Corporate social responsibility (CSR) functions today are faced with numerous challenges, as concerns reporting, measurement and monitoring of the performance of group CSR strategy.
In France, the NRE (New Economic Regulations) laws, the Grenelle II environmental law, and the European Directive now being transposed are gradually strengthening the legal framework around sustainability reporting. These new legal provisions incite companies to increase their consideration of different external factors in the interest of truly steering their extra-financial – and global – performance, which necessitates an established structure for the process of collecting quantitative and qualitative data scattered throughout the company.
CSR data collection and consolidation are now real issues
Collecting missing data frequently results in the circulation of Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheets (including as a complement to dedicated applications) via email, which raises questions about the reliability and traceability of manipulated data and therefore about auditability. And yet, these data have become key today. Requests for information about compliance with Grenelle II, or for management reports or communications with stakeholders (clients, investors, etc.) are constantly on the rise. Consistency in the collection of this information has become a major challenge. And being able to access it easily has become a real need.
K-CSR, Switch from Reporting to Extra-Financial Management
Conceived in response to these different issues, K-CSR compiles quantitative and qualitative data that are heterogeneous and crosscutting in a single database and boosts their reliability. Existing data in information systems are automatically retrieved and populated in order to avoid any needless duplication of data entry efforts. All encoded data, explanatory information, comments, descriptions of actions and attachments are stored in the same location, which guarantees the data’s traceability and comparability over multiple years and simplifies the audit process. The reliability of the handled data is guaranteed by real time consistency checks, the management of data collection permissions and a guided user approach. In this way, the data are only collected once to be fed into multiple indicators and reports.
The solution is also based on a process of collaborative exchanges between local and central. Groups and their subsidiaries can use K-CSR to share the same information on their common indicators, while still maintaining their own individual indicators.
K-CSR allows visualization of indicators in graphics, dashboards and enables production of CSR reports.
